The Best Instructional Practices Manual: A guide for professionals developing instructional plans for adults with autism is designed for those responsible for developing instructional plans (e.g., Skill Building Plan [SBP]) for participants in the Adult Autism Waiver (AAW) and ACAP. Although this guide was initially developed for those responsible fordeveloping instructional plans for adults with autism, it is general enough to be used to develop instructional plans for anyone. It should be utilized as a tool in assessing for needs, planning for instruction, skill building, and evaluating progress. It not only highlights specific BestInstructional Practices, but also stresses where these practices are applicable when supporting an adult with autism. In an effort to emphasize these BestInstructional Practices, an example of a young woman diagnosed with autism is embedded throughout the guide.
