Celebrating National Caregivers Month this November
National Family Caregivers Month recognizes and honors the millions of unpaid family and friend caregivers who support loved ones with illnesses, disabilities, or other needs. The month is dedicated to raising awareness of caregiving issues, educating the public, and increasing support for caregivers. This year’s theme is “Plug-in to Care” and focuses on connection—helping caregivers easily “plug in” to vital support tools and trusted networks.
To support caregivers through the emotional journey of caring for a loved one, ODP partner’s with organizations such as PA Family Network (PAFN). PAFN provides a wide range of free resources for families that highlight the importance of caring for caregivers. Some resources include:
- Caring for the Caregiver: 25 Ways to Care for Yourself
- Complex Trauma: Facts for Caregivers
- How to Prevent Secondary Trauma as a Caregiver
