Did you know that 60% of caregivers of individuals with communication difficulties say that communication breakdowns make their role more challenging?
May 1, 2025, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) published its 2025 ASHA National Survey of Caregivers: Insights and Experience conducted by YouGov.
Here are some of the findings:
- 40% of those who care for children with speech, language, or hearing difficulties say that communication breakdowns are a leading cause of children’s challenges at school and daycare
- 77% of caregivers working with Speech and Language Pathologists report improved daily life
- 45% of caregivers report fewer public interactions due to concerns about communication issues
- For caregivers to those who communication difficulties, 37% say they have figured out how to communicate
These findings highlight how important effective communication is across the life span.
