24 Nov 2021 November 19th is Pressure Injury Prevention Day Governor Wolf recently signed into effect a proclamation recognizing Friday, November 19, 2021 as Pressure Injury Prevention Day in Pennsylvania. Pressure injuries, commonly known as bedsores, are a primarily preventable affliction that can develop into ulcers causing immense pain. Over 60,000 Americans die of pressure injury-related complications each year. The Wolf administration has signed this proclamation to raise awareness of prevention measures for those at risk of developing pressure injuries. The proclamation highlights the Office of Developmental Programs Skin Integrity Initiative which offers education, training, and technical assistance to reduce the incidents and severity of pressure injuries.
