Pennsylvania is one of many states to prioritize competitive integrated employment as the first consideration and preferred outcome for working-age individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or autism. But employment is only half the goal. Support professionals also must be ready to help individuals be “in and of their community,” including when they are not working.
